Wildcats Introduce Europeans
Moncton, NB –The Wildcats are very excited for this coming season with many new faces on the roster such as Memorial Cup Champions Yannick Veilleux, Jonathan Racine and Alex Dubeau. The Cats are proud of James Melindy on being drafted this summer to the Phoenix Coyotes in the 3rd round, 88th overall. Finally we are also pleased to have, back for their 20 year old season, and fourth season with the Wildcats the Salunier brothers Alex and Allain. The Wildcats introduced their European players this afternoon at the Red Ball Internet Center before afternoon practice.
Dmitri Jaskin was chosen with our 22nd overall import draft pick, Dmitri has a duel nationally between Czech and Russia. He was born on March 23rd, 1993 and was drafted in the second round, 41st overall to the Saint Louis Blues. Dmitri last played in Czech for HC Slavia Prague in Czech pro league.
Ivan Barbashev was selected with the Wildcats 1st overall CHL Import Draft pick. Ivan arrived yesterday after receiving his visa. Ivan is from Moscow, Russia where he captained the Under 17 Russian National team to a gold medal at the Under 17 Challenge in Windsor Ontario last January. He also played for the CSKA Moscow Junior team. Barbashev was born on December 14th, 1995 and is not NHL draft eligible until 2014. He is regarded by many as potential first round draft pick.
The Cats will be playing their last home exhibition game of the 2012 pre-season at the 4 plex on Friday starting at 7:30PM vs. PEI Rocket. There will be a ticket pre-sale on Thursday from 9-5 at the Wildcats Business office at the Coliseum as well as on Friday from 9-1PM. Tickets go on sale at the door Friday evening starting at 6PM. Wildcats home opener is on September 28th vs. Cape Breton.
