Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Valentin Nussbaumer of the Shawinigan Cataractes will compete in the 2019 Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game to be played on Wednesday January 23rd in Red Deer, Alberta.

The 18-year-old Switzerland native represented his country with a fourth place finish at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship, scoring twice and adding one assist in seven games.

The fourth overall pick in the 2018 CHL Import Draft, Nussbaumer has seven goals and 11 assists in 30 QMJHL games so far this season.  The centreman was assigned a ‘B’ rating by NHL Central Scouting in their ‘Players to Watch’ list for December, indicating his projection as a second or third round candidate for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.

Nussbaumer replaces Dillon Hamaliuk of the Seattle Thunderbirds who is unable to compete due to injury.

He joins the list of 40 players selected to compete in the 24th annual showcase of the CHL’s top NHL Draft eligible prospects.  Players will be assigned to Team Orr and Team Cherry rosters which will be announced later this week.
