Boucherville, Tuesday October 11th, 2016 – The Director of Player Safety of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Raymond Bolduc, suspended Nicolas Blachman of the Rimouski Océanic for 5 games. The suspension was handed out following an incident that occurred on October 8th against the Moncton Wildcats.

Here is the rationale that led to the decision:

After the whistle to announce the end of the period, the player at fault jumped on the ice and headed towards the opponent to start a fight.

At no time can a player leave the players’ bench or penalty box in order to start an altercation.

The Director of Player Safety took this decision after having viewed videos of the incident, considered the officials report, spoken to the players and organizations involved and after consulting the Advisory Committee for disciplinary action.
