Boucherville, QC – Anthony Poulin (Blainville-Boisbriand Armada) has been named the Ultramar Player of the Week following the QMJHL’s third week of action. In three road games against teams of the Maritimes division, Poulin recorded seven points – four goals, including two winning goals -, and a +3 differential.
In Armada’s 5-4 overtime win over Bathurst last Friday, Poulin had a two-point night, including a pass on Crête-Belzile’s equalizer in the third period which forced overtime. Blainville-Boisbriand collected the two points in extra time on Crête-Belzile’s second goal of the game. On the following day, the 18-year-old forward recorded a goal and an assist in a convincing 8-1 victory over their adversaries in the 2017 President Cup final, the Saint John Sea Dogs.
The St-Prosper native kept his best for Sunday’s game versus Halifax. He crowned another strong performance with a three-point afternoon and the winning goal in overtime in a 5-4 win against the Mooseheads. It was a fourth straight victory for Joel Bouchard’s team (5-1-0-0).
Last year with Blainville-Boisbriand, Poulin ended his first season in the QMJHL with 21 points. He already has recorded nine points in seven games so far this season. Odds are he will top his personal bests over the 2017-18 campaign.
Other players considered for this week’s Ultramar Player of the Week award are; Jakob Pelletier (Moncton Wildcats) and Shawn Boudrias (Gatineau Olympiques). Pelletier has been stellar and he proved it again last weekend. The 16-years-old forward scored two goals and amassed five assists in four games. As for Boudrias, he was dominant in two home games, scoring two goals and four assists, allowing the Olympiques to collect four points.
