REGULAR SEASON SUMMARY
The Drummondville Voltigeurs lit the lamp often this season, to say the least. Dominique Ducharme’s troops led the league with 277 goals scored on their way to putting up an impressive 44-20-3 record to place fifth. Leading the way offensively for the Voltigeurs was Joseph Veleno who was acquired from the Saint John Sea Dogs in December in a blockbuster deal that included several draft picks. The 18-year-old star scored 22 goals to go with 57 assists. On the blue line, Nicolas Beaudin led the way with 69 points. Robert Lynch and Morgan Adams-Moisan amassed 67 and 61 points, respectively. Also worth noting is that the club’s top pick in 2016, Xavier Bernard, ended his season with an impressive +35 differential. On special teams, the team finished seventh in both power play and penalty-killing success rate, with the Voltigeurs exploding for 62 goals with the man advantage. Chicoutimi native Olivier Rodrigue was consistent between the pipes, to the tune of his 31 wins in 53 games played, to finish only victories shy of QMJHL leader Colten Ellis of the Rimouski Oceanic.
