After the win, Islanders defenceman Meloche talked about how the team has remained defensively minded even when scoring lots.
“It all starts out from the D-zone when we move the puck up the ice so we just need to continue to move the puck up to those guys’ up front and stick to the systems.”
Meloche also talked about why he and Guillaume Brisebois have worked so well as a pairing for the Islanders.
“I think we keep it simple and Guillaume is such a great player. I think we’re both different but at the same time we play a little bit the same way so it’s just fun to play together,” said Meloche.
With the win, the Islanders are now second in the league in points and just one point back of the Saint John Sea Dogs for the league lead.
The Islanders meet the Sea Dogs this Tuesday for without question, the biggest game of the season to this point.
