Maillet, Bussières and Cüpper named the TELUS three stars of the week

Philippe Maillet, Raphaël Bussières and Marvin Cüpper were named today the TELUS three stars of the week for November 5 to 11.

Philippe Maillet, the Victoriaville Tigres forward, had an exceptional offensive week with 8 points, including 3 goals in 2 games, both won by his team. Friday, against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, the 20-year-old veteran brought the fans at the Colisée Desjardins to their feet more than once with a superb 5-point performance, thwarting the opposing goaltender, 3 times. It was his 4th career game with 5 points or more, which earned him the 1st star. Saturday, against the formidable Halifax Mooseheads, the Maillet-Miceli-Rehak trio collected a total of 9 points with Maillet recording 3 assists and being named the 3rd star of the game. The Tigres beat their opponents 5-4 score in front of 2,700 fans. Maillet now boasts 27 points in 17 games this season and is ranked 18th amongt the League’s top scorers.

In three road games, Raphaël Bussières of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar collected 7 points including 3 goals and a great +/- of +6, extending his streak to 6 games with at least one point. The second round pick of the Minnesota Wild collected at least 2 points in every one of his games. Friday, in Rouyn-Noranda, Bussières was named the first star of the game after scoring one goal and adding an assist. Saturday, while visiting the Val-d’Or Foreurs, he helped his team win the game 4-2 by setting the tone with the opening marker. He ended up with 3 points. Sunday, Bussières scored the game-winner versus the Foreurs and was named the 3rd star with 2 points and a +/- of +3. The Drakkar won 5-2 and the team continued their streak of 12 consecutive games without a loss in regulation time.

Marvin Cüpper, the Shawinigan Cataractes goaltender, had two high performance games, maintaining a 2.01 goals-against-average with a save percentage of .941. He registered a win whilst blocking 68 shots in total, an average of 34 shots per game. He was able to stop 27 of the 29 shots against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Friday which ended in a 2-1 loss. However, the German goaltender made 37 saves to allow the Cataractes to win a major battle against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. The performance helped him collect the first star of the game on Saturday.
