Welsh wins and sets an new record! Eagles 2 Islanders 6

Matthew Welsh is now the goaltender who has played the most minutes in QMJHL history.

The Islanders netminder has now been between the pipes for a career total of 12 944 minutes and 29 seconds. The previous record of 12 933 minutes and 20 seconds was held by Ryan Mior, who suited up in the QMJHL from 2003-2008.

Welsh had every reason to celebrate tonight because his team topped the Cape Breton Eagles by a score of 6-2.
