Brett Budgell has earned himself the Kia Humanitarian of the Year award after partnering with the Upper Room Hospitality Ministry during the past two seasons.

This non-profit organization strives to meet the food needs of people in the community. Budgell spearheaded the organization’s largest donation initiative this year.

The Charlottetown captain also created the “Fill the Net Food Drive” which encouraged Islanders fans to donate goods during a four-game span in December.
