Samuel Poulin accomplished something that hadn’t been done in the QMJHL in nearly 10 years. The Phoenix forward picked up 8 points in Sherbrooke’s 9 to 4 win over the Shawinigan Cataractes.
The last time such a performance occurred was on October 30, 2009, when Tomas Kubalik of the Victoriaville Tigres had also picked up 8 points. The mark represents a new franchise record for the Phoenix. Daniel Audette, Poulin and Marek Zachar shared the previous record for most points recorded in a single game with six.
Speaking of records, Félix Robert also added his name in the Phoenix history books in this game. Robert set a new franchise record for the fastest goal scored to start off a game after finding the back of the net after only 10 seconds of play. He beat the previous 16-second mark set by Daniel Audette just over three years ago to the day, on October 18, 2016.
