Wildcats survive in Shawinigan

It wasn’t pretty, but it’s a win, now 9 in row as the Moncton Wildcats escaped Shawinigan with 2-1 victory in overtime.

Alex Saulnier pots the winner 2:46 into overtime to give the Wildcats their 3rd win in a row on the road.

Jonathan Narbonne scored on the powerplay at 10:50 of the 3rd to force OT. The Wildcats had their hands full with the Cataractes who lead 1-0 after 2 periods on a 1st period goal by Zac Taylor.

Moncton received another solid performance from Alex Dubeau stopping 32 of33 shots. He was especially sharp in the 2nd when the Wildcats were killing penalties for 11 of the 20 minutes. He has now allowed just 4 goals in his last 4 starts.

Shawinigan also had a strong game from Hugo Campeau. He faced 41 shots and was the game’s 1st star.

Moncton went 1 for 3 on the powerplay, the Cataractes 0 for 4 which included a 7minute powerplay.

The Cats conclude the road trip in Drummondville Saturday afternoon. It will be the 1st meeting of the season for the teams.
