Boucherville, Que. – The Ultramar Player of the Week is Samuel Harvey (Huskies | Rouyn-Noranda) who was outstanding by only allowing two goals in all three games he played in last week.

Harvey’s performances led the Huskies to two wins in regulation as well as a shootout loss, thus helping the Rouyn-Noranda squad remain just two points shy of the general standings top spot.

Harvey got his week started by shutting out the Victoriaville Tigres in their own home by turning aside 26 shots in a 3-0 win. It was his third shutout of the season, tying him for the QMJHL lead in that department.

On Saturday night, Harvey stopped 24 pucks fired his way and earned second star honors while his teammate Patrik Hrehorcak netted a hat trick in the Huskies 3-1 win over the Gatineau Olympiques.

On the next day, the 19-year-old netminder did all he could to give his team the win by making a total of 42 saves in 65 minutes of action. Despite his squad picking up a point in the standings, Harvey and the Huskies ended up on the wrong end of a 2-1 shootout loss against the Voltigeurs.

Harvey ended his work week with a goals against average of 0.65 and a save percentage of .979%, respectfully giving him the top spot amongst all QMJHL goaltenders with 2.13 and .930% totals this season.

Other players considered for the Ultramar Player of the Week are forward Raphaël Lavoie (Mooseheads | Halifax) and goaltender Matthew Welsh (Islanders | Charlottetown).

For Lavoie, the 17-year-old picked up four goals and as many assists in the three games he played last week. He began by getting a goal and a helper in back-to-back overtime wins – Tuesday versus Moncton and Saturday against Saint John. Sunday, Lavoie shined bright in a 6-5 win over Acadie-Bathurst in which he picked up a pair of goals and a pair of assists.

As for Welsh, he ended his work week with two wins in as many games, a 1.50 goals against average and a .949% save percentage.
