Rimouski Oceanic center Cédric Paré is the latest player to earn Ultramar Player of the Week honours. In a pair of road games, the 20-year-old from Pintendre, Quebec scored four times and added three assists as the Oceanic went 2-0.
On Halloween night in Saint John, Paré came back to haunt his former club, scoring three times and adding three assists to factor into every Océanic goal as Rimouski defeated the Sea Dogs 6-1. For the fourth-year forward, who would be named the game’s first star, it was his second six-point effort in under two weeks.
On Friday night in Charlottetown, Paré’s league-leading ninth powerplay marker during the third period would add some insurance as the Océanic swept its abbreviated Maritime road swing with a 4-2 victory over the Islanders. The veteran center also enjoyed a dominating evening in the faceoff circle, winning 14 of 17 draws.
Paré, who was named the Forward of the Month in the “Q” on Saturday, currently leads the league with 22 goals and 44 points in 18 games, having been held off the scoresheet just twice so far this year. He also sits second in the circuit in plus/minus (+22). Paré was an invitee to NHL training camp with the Winnipeg Jets in September.
