The QMJHL announces Officiating Team for 2019 Rogers President Cup Final

Boucherville, QC – The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League today announced the officials who will take part in the 2019 Rogers President Cup Final.

It is a group of experienced officials that is credited with a combined total of 149 years of experience that include 4673 officiated games in the regular season and another 1032 in the playoffs.

Here is a quick overview of the selected officials’ QMJHL careers:

  • REFEREES:

ALARIE Jonathan # 8
Jonathan Alarie participated in the 2019 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship held in Vancouver and Victoria, British Colombia, back in December, where he worked in the bronze medal game.  He recently completed his 7th season in the League and counts 304 games of regular season experience to go along with 60 playoff appearances. It is his fifth consecutive President Cup final appearance. He also worked at the 2018 Memorial Cup tournament in Regina, Saskatchewan, where he worked during the Final game, and at the 2015 Memorial Cup in Quebec City.

 

LABONTÉ Guillaume # 17
Guillaume Labonté is completing his fifth season as a referee. An AHL referee for the past three seasons, he worked more than 148 regular season games as well as more than 21 playoff games in the Q.  He is participating in his third President Cup final. Moreover, he participated at most recent IIHF World Under-18 Hockey Championship which was held in Sweden. He also worked at the 2017 Memorial Cup in Windsor, Ontario.

 

LANGILLE Jonathan # 12
Jonathan Langille is a seasoned veteran with 13 seasons of QMJHL experience. He has worked in more than 460 regular season games along with 109 playoff contests. This marks his seventh President Cup final. He worked at the 2012 Memorial Cup tournament in Shawinigan.

 

MAILLET Mario # 21
Mario Maillet has worked over 369 regular season games and 93 playoff games during his 10 seasons of junior hockey. This will be his 8th President Cup appearance. He worked the Final game at the 2014 Memorial Cup in London, Ontario.

 

MILLS Brad # 21
Brad Mills now boasts 16 seasons of junior hockey experience. He has worked more than 494 games in the regular season, as well as 89 playoff games.  This is his 6th participation in the President Cup final.

SYLVAIN Jean-Philippe # 4
Jean-Philippe Sylvain is a seasoned veteran with 12 seasons of QMJHL experience. He has worked in more than 509 regular season games along with 103 playoff contests. This is his seventh President Cup final appearance. He also officiated during the 2013 Memorial Cup tournament in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

  • LINESMEN

BURCHELL Justin # 49
Justin Burchell has worked over 323 regular season games and 51 playoff games. He has just completed his 14th junior hockey season. This will be the 4th President Cup final in which he has worked.

 

CHAPUT Maxime # 88
Linesman Maxime Chaput has participated in this season’s IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship which was held in British Colombia, where he was called upon to work during the gold medal game. He is also a linesman at the AHL level and is just wrapping up his 10th QMJHL season.  Maxime has 286 regular season games as well as 60 playoff games under his belt. This is his fourth President Cup final.

 

DOIRON Jay # 55
Jay Doiron has worked over 374 regular season games as well as 121 playoff games over 18 QMJHL seasons. This is his 8th President Cup final appearance. He worked at the 2012 and 2015 Memorial Cup championships, which were respectively held in Shawinigan and Quebec City.

 

HICKS Matt # 58
Matt Hicks is in his 7th QMJHL season and has worked in over 235 regular season games along with 42 playoff contests. This is his 3rd President Cup Final appearance.

 

LOSIER Sylvain # 71
Sylvain Losier is undoubtedly the group’s most seasoned veteran. He counts 26 years of QMJHL experience. He has worked in over 820 regular season games along with 200 playoff contests. This is his 16th President Cup Final appearance. Morevoer, he has participated in 5 Memorial Cup tournaments to this day, as well as during the the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, and several IIHF World Championships.

 

MARTINEAU Benoit # 84
Benoit Martineau has worked more than 351 regular season games as well as 83 playoff games in the Q. He has 10 years of QMJHL experience and this is his 7th President Cup final appearance. He worked during the final game of the 2015 Memorial Cup held in Quebec City.
