The Gatineau Olympiques and Louis Robitaille end their association

Les Olympiques de Gatineau

The Gatineau Olympiques and Head Coach and General Manager Louis Robitaille have mutually agreed to part ways, the team announced Tuesday.

“Following discussions, both parties have decided that it is time to move on. We would like to thank Louis for his three years with the organization, his hard work and especially his involvement in the community to well represent the Gatineau Olympiques organization. We wish him the best of luck in his future.”

Since being named at the team’s helm in April of 2020, Robitaille maintained a 104-38-25 record in 167 regular season games. In the playoffs, he had shown a 12-12 record in 24 games, leading the Olympiques to their first semifinal appearance since 2011 in the 2022-2023 season.

The status of assistant coaches Darren Rumble, Jean-Philippe Charbonneau and Luc Therrien remains unchanged until further notice.

Robitaille’s replacement will be announced in the coming weeks, as the process is now underway to hire a separate general manager and head coach.

In addition, the Olympiques organization announced that Jean-François Fortin will act as interim General Manager to prepare for the QMJHL Draft and to continue the work that has already begun. Fortin has been the Assistant General Manager for the past three years.

A press conference will be held on Wednesday, at 11:00am ET, at the Slush Puppie Center.
