Gibson had to stand tall less than a minute into the game, as he made his first save on a 2-on-1 chance by Zack Phillips and Charlie Coyle.

Kelly opened the scoring from the slot at 2:33 of the first period with a wrist shot over the right shoulder of Gibson. Stephen MacAulay and Charles Roussel had the assists on the play.

The Sea Dogs continued to pour on the offense early as Galiev took a pass from Gauthier on his skate, kicked it to his stick and slid it past a sprawling Gibson at 4:46. Gagne had the other helper on the 2-0 goal.

Corbeil kept the goose egg on the board with two spectacular pad saves on the penalty kill near the 7:30 mark and followed that up with another flurry of saves with just under five minutes remaining.

The Sea Dogs opened the second period in a hurry as well. Forcing a turnover at the Sagueneens blueline, Huberdeau found Tesink all alone. Tesink cut in, deked Gibson and slid it five-hole for a 3-0 lead.

Gagnon got the Sagueneens on the board at 9:33 of the second. Les than 30 seconds later, Corbeil stood tall against a flurry of in-close chances by the Sagueneens to conserve the two-goal lead.

Huberdeau restored the three-goal lead with his eighth post season marker at 14:29, on a beautiful, shorthanded give and go with Coyle. Huberdeau cut into the zone, took the pass from Coyle to spring in alone, deked and finished the backhand through Gibson’s legs. Gagne tallied his second assist on the play.

Ouellet brought the Sagueneens within two at 5:31 of the final frame.

Galiev potted his second of the game and 10th of the playoffs at 15:16 of the third to make it 5-2 in favour of Saint John. Nathan Beaulieu made the play to send Galiev in along the left wing. Galiev made no mistake with a laser from the left wing faceoff dot
