Screaming Eagles shutout Mooseheads 4-0

The Halifax Mooseheads had plenty of shots against their opponents on Wednesday night in Cape Breton but came away without anything to show for it in a 4-0 loss.

The Herd outshot the Screaming Eagles 34-20 but Kevin Mandolese, the 13th overall pick in June, stopped all 24 he faced before Colton Ellis took over and stopped 10 shots in the final 28:41 of the game.

Logan O’Neil led the attack for the home team with a pair of goals to earn the first star, while Buffalo Sabres prospect Vasily Glotov scored one goal and one assist to nab the second star. The third star went to Anthony Beauchamp who had two assists.

Yannik Bertrand had the other goal for Cape Breton.

Alexis Gravel started in goal for Halifax and played the entire game, stopping 16 of 20 shots.

There were 780 fans in attendance at the Cape Breton County Arena in Coxheath.

The Mooseheads return to Cole Harbour Place for practice on Thursday afternoon from 4-6 pm. The pre-season continues on Saturday afternoon at 3pm when Halifax visits the Charlottetown Islanders at the Pownal Sports Centre in Alexandra, PE.

The Herd will host the Islanders in the first home game of the pre-season on Sunday at 3pm at the Halifax Forum.

General Admission tickets are $5 for Youth ages 12 and under
General Admission tickets are $10 for adults (includes service fee).

The Forum box office will open 90 minutes prior to puck drop.
