QMJHL Player of the Week | Olivier Nadeau (January 30, 2023)

The latest Player of the Week in the QMJHL is Olivier Nadeau of the Gatineau Olympiques. Although his club only took to the ice once last week, the winger from Lac-Etchemin, Quebec made the most of the opportunity, helping the West Division-leading Olympiques to victory.
On Friday night at home, the fourth-year veteran had a goal and an assist – and the Olympiques had found the back of the net eight times – by the end of the first period alone. By the time the night was over, Gatineau had emerged victorious in an 11-6 offensive slugfest over the Val-d’Or Foreurs and Nadeau had recorded a season-high six points with two goals and four assists. He would also finish the game with a +4 rating as well as first star honors for the contest.
Acquired from the Shawinigan Cataractes in the off-season, recovery from shoulder surgery prevented Nadeau from making his Olympiques debut until late December. Since then, he’s been a key cog in the Gatineau offense with 10 goals and 18 points in 13 games. Nadeau was selected in the fourth round by the Buffalo Sabres at the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
