This week’s QMJHL Player of the Week honors are awarded to goaltender Mathis Rousseau of the Halifax Mooseheads. In a pair of home games, the 18-year-old from Boisbriand, Quebec went 2-0-0-0 with a 1.44 GAA and a save percentage of .963% for the Maritimes Division leading Mooseheads.

On Thursday night, Rousseau steered aside 32 shots in regulation, then stopped four of five shootout attempts as Halifax defeated the league-leading Quebec Remparts by a score of 2-1. Rousseau would be named the third star of the contest and extended his personal win streak to five games.

The second-year veteran would make it six in a row on Saturday night in stellar fashion, making a season-high 46 saves in a 6-2 triumph over the Sherbrooke Phoenix in a battle between the second and third ranked clubs in the Q. Rousseau also added an assist in the game and was an easy choice for first star on the night as the Mooseheads earned a point in their 15^th straight game.

Saturday’s win was Rousseau’s 20^th of the campaign, placing him in a three-way tie for the league lead. A fourth-round selection of the Mooseheads at the 2020 QMJHL Draft, his current 2.64 GAA and .910% save percentage put him on pace to overtake his rookie totals in both categories.
