QMJHL cancels events due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak

It is with regret that the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is announcing the cancellation of four events: the Golden Puck Awards, the New England Showcase, the Gatorade Excellence Challenge and the Goaltenders Development Camp.

As the situation continues to evolve, each passing day raises additional questions for the safety of the participants. Therefore, it has become apparent that it is better to be cautious in conjunction with the directives issued by our local health authorities.

The Golden Puck Awards was supposed to be held on April 8, 2020 at L’Étoile theatre in Brossard, QC. However, the theatre’s management group announced earlier last week the cancellation of all events following the government’s announcement of precautionary measures

Furthermore, the league has decided to cancel the three hockey events as it became impossible to host such events in the upcoming weeks with the restrictions in place. We understand the disappointment as players have dedicated themselves all season long to participating in these events, but their health and safety remains our top priority.
