Povorozniouk signs with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL

SAINT JOHN – Forward Sam Povorozniouk has signed a professional tryout contract (PTO) with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
The Wolves made the announcement in a news release on their website.
Povorozniouk, 21, played the 2015-16 season with Saint John. The native of Northbrook, Illinois, led the Sea Dogs with 39 goals and added 23 assists for 62 points in 68 games. He also topped the club’s scoring list in goals (14) and points (25) in the 2016 playoffs. He also played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League.
In the release, Wolves General Manager Wendell Young – brother of Saint John GM Darrell Young, called Povorozniouk, “a proven goal-scorer.”
