#Our18 : Some Huskies « in transition »

« This year will be a transition one. Over the last two seasons, we’ve been doing a lot more winning than losing. We’re far from having a bad team, we have 14 players returning. We’ll be competitive…but we’ll need to do some learning. »

It’s in these words that head coach Gilles Bouchard sums up the direction in which his team is heading prior to the season that kicks off at Rouyn-Noranda’s IAM Gold arena on September 22nd.

The Huskies will have a young team, and the time has come for Bouchard to start prepping the future.

Boucher to wear the « C »

The vote wasn’t even close. Mathieu Boucher will be the Huskies newest captain after receiving the strong majority of votes from his teammates. Known for his character and human qualities, he will be supported by Taylor Ford, Lane Cormier and Zachary Lauzon.

“Once again, it comes as no surprise. Taylor and Lane were both captains on their respective teams of Moncton and Halifax. With Zach and them, our eleven rookies will be very well surrounded.”

Key departures: Jean-Christophe Beaudin, Bruno-Carl Denis, Martins Dzierkals, Gabriel Fontaine, Alexandre Fortin, Jérémy Lauzon, Philippe Myers, Manuel Wierderer

Key arrivals: Alexis Arseneault, Alex Beaucage Tommy Beaudoin, Justin Bergeron, Zachary Edmond, Patrik Hrehorcak, Vincent Marleau, Zachary Ouellet, Félix-Antoine Tourigny
