Moncton lands the first overall pick of the 2023 QMJHL Entry Draft

With six balls and a 28% chance of winning the lottery, the Moncton Wildcats landed the first overall pick of the 2023 QMJHL Entry Draft presented by Fenplast which will be held in Sherbrooke, on the 10th of June.
The draw, which was held in Montreal’s RDS studios earlier today, was conducted by QMJHL Director of Communications and Media Relations, Maxime Blouin, under the supervision of Nicolas-Étienne Côté, Senior Hockey Producer of Réseau des Sports (RDS), the host of Hockey 360, Marc Labrecque, as well as Maxime Morin, Desk Officer for Hockey 360.

The Chicoutimi Saguenéens (9 balls – 43%) will be selecting second overall, while the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (3 balls – 14%), Val-d’Or Foreurs (2 balls – 10%) and Rimouski Océanic (1 ball – 5%) all retained their respective draft positions.
The order of the first five selections in the 2023 QMJHL Entry Draft presented by Fenplast is as follows:
1st pick – Moncton Wildcats (from Val-d’Or)
2nd pick – Chicoutimi Saguenéens (from Acadie-Bathurst)
3rd pick – Blainville-Boisbriand Armada
4th pick – Val-d’Or Foreurs (from Saint John)
5th pick – Rimouski Océanic (from Charlottetown)
The Wildcats’ management team will now have the opportunity to carefully evaluate prospects from this year’s draft class during the final portion of the 2023 QMJHL Cup. The event starts tomorrow at Boisbriand’s Centre d’excellence Sports Rousseau.
