Boucherville, QC – The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and its Hockey Operations Department are proud to announce that amateur scout Patrick Desrosiers has been named as the QMJHL’s Director of Central Scouting.
Desrosiers, who has worked for several QMJHL teams since 2004, replaces former Director Carl Bouchard, who left his position in July after five years of leading the scouting department.
“I am honoured to accept this new challenge. I’ve worked as a scout for QMJHL teams for 15 years, so my heart beats with and for the league. I know what my responsibilities are and I’ll make sure to do all I can in order to meet the expectations of our teams,” said Desrosiers.
A league scout from 2004-2009 after spending 20 years in minor hockey, Desrosiers then worked for the Don Meehan Agency for three years before coming back to the QMJHL in 2012 and spending time with Charlottetown, Victoriaville and Bathurst.
His role includes coordinating nine scouts, including five in the Province of Quebec and four in the Maritimes. The scouting department’s mandate is to gather information and provide tools to help its 18 teams in the recruitment process for the upcoming entry draft. It includes scouting, evaluation and recruitment of the best prospects throughout Quebec, the four Atlantic Provinces and the six American states of the New England region.
