Close to one hundred former QMJHL players on 2021-22 NHL opening night rosters

The National Hockey League (NHL) has unveiled the rosters of its 32 teams for the 2021-2022 regular season and among them are 89 players who have passed through the QMJHL ranks before making the jump to the best hockey league in the world.

These former QMJHL members can currently be found on the list of active players for their respective teams, or on their list of injured players.

Only the Buffalo Sabers, Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes, Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs do not have any QMJHL alumni on their roster.

On the flip side, the Montreal Canadiens roster is made up of an impressive ten players from the QMJHL, the highest number of alumni on a single NHL lineup. Just behind Montreal are the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers, who each have six players originating from the Q.

Forwards Hendrix Lapierre and Dawson Mercer, both 19 years of age, are the only current QMJHL members to start the regular season in the NHL.
