Armada edge Eagles 1-0

Cape Breton, Screaming Eagles

BLAINVILLE-BOISBRIAND – In a game that saw scoring chances a plenty but goals very few, Alexandre Alain was the only one to find the back of the net.

Cape Breton fought hard in the second game of a three game visit to the province of Quebec but could not find the back of the net as they fell in a 1-0 game to the Armada. Alain’s goal, which came at 13:47, would prove to be the difference. Alain came up the right wing on an odd man rush and precisely placed the puck in the top corner of the blocker side.

It was in the middle stanza where the Eagles had their most chances, putting 12 pucks on net on Samuel Montembeault but unable to light the red light. It was also in the middle stanza where Cape Breton faced their toughest penalty kill challenge, a 5 on 3 for two minutes with Phélix Martineau in the box for interference and Giovanni Fiore sitting for boarding. The Eagles limited the Armada to two shots which Kyle Jessiman turned away.

In the final twenty minutes Cape Breton outshot Blainville-Boisbriand again but could not find a tying goal. With just over one minute to play Marc-André Dumont would pull his netminder, but the Eagles couldn’t direct any shots on the Armada net with an extra attacker.

Montembeault would stop all 27 shots in the shutout for Blainville-Boisbriand. Jessiman turned away 22 of 23 shots in the loss.

The road trip concludes for the Screaming Eagles as they visit the Drummondville Voltigeurs on Sunday afternoon. Puck drop is at 4 PM Atlantic time. You can hear all the action on 1270 AM CJCB or online at
