Alexis Gravel is the VAUGHN Goaltender of the Month – February, 2019

For the second time this season, Alexis Gravel of the Halifax Mooseheads has been named the VAUGHN Goaltender of the Month.

Appearing in seven February games, the 18-year-old from Asbestos, Quebec piled up a 6-1-0-0 record with a microscopic 1.29 goals against average and a save percentage of .940% for a Mooseheads squad that surrendered just 15 goals over the course of the month.

The highlights of the month for the third-year veteran came on February 16th and 24th, respectively. On those nights, Gravel earned back-to-back shutout victories against the Charlottetown Islanders (24 saves) and Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (22 saves). Overall, Gravel produced a shutout streak of 195 minutes and 59 seconds, a franchise record for Halifax.

Gravel currently sits among the league leaders in virtually all major goaltending stat categories. Entering March, his record stands at 30-11-1-1 with a 2.48 GAA, a .915% save percentage and four shutouts.

A second-round selection of the Mooseheads in the 2016 QMJHL Entry Draft, Gravel was also chosen by the Chicago Blackhawks in the sixth round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
