Boucherville, Que. – The National Hockey League (NHL) revealed the rosters of its 31 franchises prior to yesterday’s opening games. Among them, you can find 82 players who made their way through the QMJHL before playing in the world’s greatest hockey league.
Only the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings and New York Rangers have no QMJHL alumni among their lineups heading into the 2018-19 season.
On the flip side, the Tampa Bay Lightning has an impressive total of 10 former QMJHL players within its core, the highest total among a single NHL squad.
At age 19, Drummondville Voltigeurs forward Maxime Comtois is currently the youngest QMJHL player currently playing in the NHL. While we definitely wish him a prolific career at the next level, it is still a possibility that the Longueuil, Quebec native rejoins his Drummondville teammates at some point this season since he’s still too young to play in the American Hockey League.
Here is a list of the QMJHL alumni currently in the NHL:
NEW YORK (ISLANDERS)
NEW YORK (RANGERS)
