74 QMJHL players graduate during 2020-2021 season

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is proud to announce that 74 of its student-athletes were able to graduate from their school program over the course of the 2020-21 season. These diploma recipients include 34 players who graduated from high school, 26 players who received their high school diploma (D.E.S.) and 14 college graduates (DEC).

Like all Canadian students, the school year for QMJHL players was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. They had to adapt to online learning in order to continue their studies in high school, CEGEP or university. It took a lot of organization, motivation and perseverance to keep putting the necessary efforts into their studies, all while having to adjust to a very unique hockey season.

“We would like to congratulate them for the discipline and perseverance they have shown this year,” said Natacha Llorens, Director of player services for the QMJHL. “It is also important to underline the extraordinary work of the education coordinators of the teams and of the teachers who have supported and accompanied them in their studies. These efforts will allow the student-athletes to continue their education, while some graduate to the next level. We must also highlight the players’ excellent success rate, which is higher than that of regular students, who do not have the same constraints as QMJHL players.”

For anyone interested in making a donation to the QMJHL Foundation to help student-athletes in the pursuit of their studies, you can do so by CLICKING HERE. A tax receipt will be sent to you for any amount of $20 or more.
