The QMJHL has the pleasure to underline a plateau that one of its officials will reach during the next week-end, who will officiate his 1000th games during the regular season and playoff games.
As was the case for Daniel Béchard last weekend, it is now the time for Denis Drolet to become the 6th official to join this most select group at his next scheduled game on: Saturday, March 14th, 2015 at 7:00pm in Quebec City (VDO vs. QUE)
For this memorable game, Drolet will be joined by referees Éric Charron and Jean-Philippe Sylvain as well as a long time friend, linesman Yanick Pothier. In addition, Sylvain Cloutier, a former QMJHL Linesman who has worked with him, will be the Officials Supervisor.
Drolet’s first game was on September 30th, 1988 in Verdun with Chicoutimi visiting. Michel Beaudry was the referee and Pierre Racicot was the other linesman.
It is a difficult task in determining which was the most memorable game in Drolet’s distinguished career. However, he remembers being on the ice with Sidney Crosby, officiate Manon Rhéaume’s first game in the QMJHL, participate in three games during the Quebec vs. Russia series, to name a few.
During his twenty seven (27) seasons in the QMJHL, Denis Drolet worked 891 regular season games and 108 playoff games for a grand total of 999 games.
On behalf of League Management, members of the Officiating Committee and all officials we would like to congratulate Denis Drolet and wish him the most memorable game along with his family and friends.
