Rocket Edge Oceanic

Josh Currie had the eventual game-winning goal as the P.E.I. Rocket beat the Rimouski Oceanic 4-3 Saturday night in Rimouski.

The Rocket wraps up a two-game road trip and improve to 12-7-1-0 on the season and pass Rimouski for the 6th overall spot.


Victor Provencher, Louick Marcotte, Ben Duffy and Currie scored for the Rocket. Scott Oke had a pair of goals for the Oceanic and Ryan MacKinnon added a tally.


Rocket opened the scoring at 3:56 of the first period with Provencher’s 12th of the season. Rimouski replied with a powerplay goal from Oke with one second left in the frame.


In the second period, Marcotte’s sixth of the season put the Rocket up 2-1 at 3:53. Provencher and Robichaud drew the assists.


Ben Duffy put the Rocket up 3-1 with his 15th of the year at 5:29. Currie drew the lone assist.


In the third period, Currie scored on the powerplay to give the Rocket a 4-1 lead. The goal was Currie’s 19th of the season. Marcotte and Duffy drew the assists.


The Oceanic came within a goal with goals from MacKinnon and Oke at 8:19 and 17:58 respectively.


Maxime Lagacé was sharp in goal for the Rocket making 35 saves in the win.


Philippe Desrosiers made 22 saves in the loss for Rimouski.


The Rocket is back in action Wednesday Nov. 14 in Cape Breton to battle the Screaming Eagles. The Rocket returns home Friday Nov. 16 to battle the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at 7 p.m.  Friday night is BMO Ultimate Fan Night at the Charlottetown Civic Centre and the ultimate fan has a chance to win a trip for two to the Mastercard Memorial Cup in saskatoon.
