SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs lost to the Moncton Wildcats by a score of 5-3 in front of 2150 fans at Harbour Station in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Saturday night.

Andreas Tsogkas, Aidan Kelly and Stephen Anderson tallied for the Sea Dogs. Jonathan Huberdeau and Olivier LeBlanc assisted on Tsogkas’ goal, his first in the QMJHL. Sebastien Auger made 13 saves on 16 shots in 40 minutes of play. Alex Fournier took over in the third period, stopping 9 of 11 shots in the loss.

Dmitrij Jaskin and Allain Saulnier had two goals each for the Wildcats with David Stephens adding the single. Brandon Thibeau made 28 saves on 31 shots in the win.

Auger added an assist on Kelly’s marker, giving him his first QMJHL point.

The Wildcats opened the scoring at 1:37 with a power play goal from first-round import draft choice Jaskin.

Huberdeau made some excellent moves just over five minutes in, putting a puck just wide of the left pad of Thibeau.

Saulnier added another power play marker at 6:04 of the first to make it 2-0 Moncton.

The Sea Dogs went on to the power play at 10:27 on the first and gained a two-man advantage. Stephen Anderson added some physicality to the game with a big hit with seven minutes to go in the first. Tsogkas put the Dogs on the board at 19:24 with his first-ever QMJHL goal. Huberdeau and LeBlanc notched the assists on the play.

Kelly tied things up at 2:35 of the second period on a power play goal. Auger and Kevin Gagne added the assists on the play. The assist for Auger was his first-ever QMJHL point.

Jakub Izacky made a terrific play just inside the Saint John blueline to break out 2-on-0 with Anderson. Izacky faked the shoot and passed to Anderson who made no mistake, roofing the backhander over Thibeau to give the Sea Dogs a 3-2 lead.

Saulnier tied things back up at 3-3 at 8:36.

The middle frame saw a switch from the offence in the first, with the Sea Dogs outshooting the Wildcats 14-4.

Jaskin added his second for the Wildcats at 3:38 of the third.

Stephens gave the Wildcats a 5-3 lead on the power play at 10:31.
