A dominating 2nd period allowed the Moncton Wildcats to come from behind for a 6-5 win over the Baie- Comeau Drakkar Saturday afternoon in Moncton.
With Baie-Comeau leading 3-1 after the 1st period, the Wildcats exploded for 4 goals in a span of 5 minutes and 8 seconds in the second, to take the lead for good.
Captain Alain Saulnier and his brother Alex were in the middle of the Cat turnaround. Alain (2g 2a) and Alex(2g 3a), Yannick Veilleux (1g 2a) and Dmitri Jaskin (1g 2a) administered the damage as the Cats scored 3 times on the powerplay to spark the comeback.
With the win the Wildcats solidified their hold on 2nd place in the Maritime Division collecting their 15th win of the season.
Cole Holowenko, who came in relief of Alex Dubeau to start the 2nd period, gets the win. Baie-Comeau also went through 2 netminders as the Cats out shot the Drakkar 36-25 including 19-5 in the pivotal 2nd.
Moncton now prepares to meet the Halifax Mooseheads Sunday afternoon at the Coliseum.
