Ultramar Player of the Week: Vitalii Abramov

Boucherville, Que. – The Ultramar Player of the Week is Vitalii Abramov (Tigres | Victoriaville) who had an excellent week netting six goals and adding three assists to go along with a +6 differential.

Abramov, selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, got things started with a goal and two assists in a 4-1 win on Tuesday against the Quebec Remparts. He was named the game’s first star.

His scoring streak continued the next day against the Rimouski Océanic as he collected one goal and added an assist in what would be a 4-2 loss. He added another goal on Friday in a 5-2 loss at the hands of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

In his last game of the week, the 19-year-old forward stepped up and scored a hat-trick earning first star honours for the second time as the Tigres defeated their archrivals, the Drummondville Voltigeurs.

Abramov is currently on a six-game stretch in which he registered at least a point per game. He now has 32 goals on the season, giving 30 goals or more in three straight seasons. His average points per game of 1.64 is good for second in the league behind only Alex Barré-Boulet (Armada | Blainville-Boisbriand) who sits at 1.89.

Other players considered for the Ultramar Player of the Week honour are forward Shawn Boudrias (Olympiques | Gatineau) and defenseman Thomas Grégoire (Phoenix | Sherbrooke).

Boudrias had an eight-point week scoring five goals and adding three assists in three Gatineau Olympiques wins. Gatineau is currently on an eight-game stretch without a regulation time loss and Boudrias leads the team in points with 52, including 22 goals.

Grégoire recorded six points last week of which five were assists and posted a +4 differential. He currently has 56 points in 57 games, which puts him third among defensemen in the league. He 45 assists leads the category among defensemen.
