Tigres’ Étienne Montpetit named the VAUGHN Goaltender of the Month for March

BOUCHERVILLE, 22nd March 2018 – The Quebec Junior Major Hockey League announced today that Étienne Montpetit (Tigres | Victoriaville) is the VAUGHN Goaltender of the Month for March.

Montpetit held a perfect record for the last month of regular season going 5-0-0-0 in as many starts. His win streak extends beyond the month though, as he’s managed to win nine straight outings, not having lost a game since the 26th of January.

The 20-year-old goaltender started the season off with the Val-d’Or Foreurs and played quite well for them before he was traded to the Victoriaville Tigres following the New Year. On March 2nd, he recorded his first shutout of the season with his new team and from there on out he couldn’t be stopped.

He’s posted an impressive 1.20 goals-against average as well as a .948 save percentage in March. He’s been nothing short of exceptional between the pipes, letting only six goals by in his five-game stretch.

The Tigres netminder undoubtedly ended the season on a high note, but he’s also been an example of consistency throughout the 2017-2018 campaign. He finished second for save percentage with an impressive .925%, sitting right behind Samuel Harvey (Huskies | Rouyn-Noranda) who managed a .930%.

Montpetit has also largely contributed to the Tigres’ late-season success as the team had won 11 straight going into the postseason. The Tigres even managed to topple the league-leading Blainville-Boisbriand Armada by a stunning 7-1 mark on March 11th. To no one’s surprise, Montpetit was in nets for the amazing win.

With such momentum, Montpetit and the Tigres look to leave a lasting mark on the 2018 series after such a successful month to close off the season.
