Boucherville, Tuesday, June 27 2017 – It is with great pride that the Quebec Junior Major Hockey League has the honour to present the Co-Chairmen of the CANIMEX Ambassadors’ Club Golf Tournament: Mr. Charles Henry and Mr. Steven Low.
This event will again be held at the Drummondville Golf Course on Friday, August 4, 2017.
We have a very special theme this year. We will welcome all the players and members of the organisation of the 1997 Memorial Cup Champions, the Hull Olympiques, for the 20th Anniversary of this memorable event. Defenseman Steven Low was the captain of the Olympiques in 1997 and he has graciously accepted to be Honorary Co-Chairman when Guy Darveau, president of the QMJHL’s Ambassadors’ Club, asked him.
By the same occasion, we also invite all former players of the Olympiques who won a President Cup. No other team in Quebec’s Junior Circuit won the Cup more often, after having participated 10 times in 25 years, from 1986 to 2011.
The mastermind behind all these victories is none other than Mr. Charles Henry, general-manager during those glorious years from 1980 to 2010. Mr. Henry willingly accepted to be Honorary Co-Chairman when asked by Mr. Gilles Courteau, QMJHL Commissioner.
Christian Bronsard (MVP goaltender, 1997), Luc Chénier (1986), Marc Saumier (1988), Stéphane Matteau (1986 and 1988) and Francis Wathier (2003 and 2004) have already confirmed their presence for this unique occasion where memories and stories will be plentiful.
Players from the Olympiques’ winning teams (1986, 1988, 1995, 1997, 2003, 2004 and 2008)…we invite you to this great gathering. You will be greeted at 9:00 for brunch, then a round of golf and finally a cocktails. All of this at no cost to you, courtesy of our generous sponsors of which Mr. Roger Dubois from CANIMEX (Drummondville) is part of.
You may e-mail Mr. Denis Demers, Chief Statistician for the QMJHL, for reservation at email@example.com, at the latest Monday, July 10th.
Last year, former players of the Granby Predators gathered to commemorate the 20 years of their historical victory of the 1996 Memorial Cup, and it was unanimous, it was a great day for reunions! The Morrissette family with Michel Therrien, Francis Bouillon, Frédéric Deschênes and almost 20 former players were all reunited. Samy Nasreddine, Jean-François Brunelle, Michel Massie and Patrick Léonard got together to get in touch with as many players as they could, which resulted into a huge success.
All former players or staff, regardless of their function may, at no charge, join the QMJHL Ambassadors’ Club on our FaceBook page.
