The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles are pleased to announce Jacques Carriere as
the organization’s new General Manager, Hockey Operations and John Hanna as Assistant
General Manager, Hockey Operations.

developing the players we draft and winning with those players. I am extremely confident in
Jacques and John’s abilities to lead our team with that vision and mandate, especially as we look
forward to the draft next month. Combined, Jacques and John have more than three decades of
experience in scouting, management and coaching within the QMJHL. Their history with the
Eagles, mean they bring an unmatched passion and commitment to the organization. They are
well respected within the league and our Cape Breton community. This is a step forward in the
right direction for the Eagles,” says Gerard Shaw, President, Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
Carriere first joined the QMJHL in the 04-05 season with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens as a scout.
He quickly progressed within the league to hold various Head Scout and management positions.
Since 2013, Carriere has held the Head Scout and Assistant General Manager position with the

A Cape Breton native, Hanna’s hockey career started as a player. He won the Memorial Cup
with the Ottawa 67’s in 1984 and later went on to play with the Cape Breton Oilers in 1988-
1989. Hanna has a long-standing relationship with the Eagles and he has held a variety of roles,
including scout, assistant coach, strength and conditioning coach and Board member.
The Eagles are currently recruiting a Coach for the upcoming season. The QMJHL Draft takes
place in Quebec City on Saturday, June 8th, 2019.
