REGULAR SEASON SUMMARY
The Gatineau Olympiques ended the 2017-18 season 11th overall after Eric Landry’s squad amassed 73 points. A shaky end to the season didn’t help their cause, as the Olympiques only won one of their final 10 games. Throughout the regular season, the Olympiques made their opponents pay dearly for their lack of discipline to the tune of their 22% success rate on the power play, which ranked fifth in the QMJHL. On the other hand, their penalty killing was 10th at 80.1%. Despite missing some time due to injury, Shawn Boudrias still managed to average a point per game pace with 28 goals and 32 assists to lead the team. Next up was Dawson Theede, who posted 44 points on the season in only 49 games. In the crease, Tristian Bérubé won 22 games over his 45 appearances, registering a 2.94 goals against average. The Gatineau offence and defence were evenly balanced this season, scoring 213 goals while allowing 215 goals. It’s also worth noting that the Olympiques began a youth movement this season including their swap of star Vitalii Abramov to Victoriaville that brought a slew of draft picks.
