Q & A with Raphaël Corriveau:

Q1: Tell us about your Minor Hockey career.

A1: I played Novice 'A' to Bamtam 'CC' with Sénateurs de Bellechasse. I then played Bamtam 'AA' and Midget Espoir with Rive-Sud Express.

Q2: Where did you play your Midget hockey?

A2: I played my Midget hockey in Riviere-du-Loup with Les Albatros du College Notre-Dame. We lost in playoffs finals against Lac Saint-Louis Lions. Six former teammates from that team are playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League right now.

Q3: You were drafted by the Quebec Remparts at the 2011 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft in round three, 53rd overall. Tell us about your draft year and what it was like playing for Patrick Roy in Quebec City.

A3: Being draft by the Quebec Remparts was one of the best moments of my life. It is the team I watched when I was young, it was a dream came true. Playing for Patrick was a great experience, I learned a lot from him.

Q4: You were traded to the Screaming Eagles on January 7th 2012 along with Simon Desmarais for Logan Shaw. Were you shocked about the trade? Were you glad to become a Screaming Eagle?

A4: At first I was shocked, because in Quebec I was close to my family and friends, but I looked at it as a great experience for me. I did not get a lot of ice time in Quebec, so I was happy to get more ice time here in Cape Breton.

Q5: In 34 games thus far, you have 11 points (4 goals and 7 assists). Tell us your thoughts on the season to this point. What goals do you have for the remainder of the season?

A5: I had a rough start to the season, but now it is going way better. I expect to have a strong second half of  the season. I do not want to set any point goals, but I want to give my best each game and the points will come.

Q6: What do you like about the fans in Cape Breton?

A6: The fans are great, even we are having a rough season we have a lot of fans at our games. The fans are a big part of a team and I want to thank them for coming out and supporting us this season.

Q7: You were born in Lévis, Que., however you hometown is Buckland Que. Tell us about your hometown.

A7: Buckland is a small town near Quebec City. The population is around 800 people, it is not very big, but everyone is welcoming. The best part about my hometown is the tranquility. We are surrounded by the Forrest so it is really quiet. The closest team to my hometown is the Quebec Remparts, which play about one hour away.

Q8: Tell us some interesting facts about your family.

A8: My father Daniel is forestry worker and my mother Nancy is a elementary school secretary. I have a brother named Anthony, who was born with cerebral palsy, so he can not walk like a normal kid. He is very happy and he is doing everything like others kids. Anthony is currently playing sledge hockey. I have a sister named Virginie, who is in secondary school. She is a really good cross-country skier and volleyball player . I owe a lot to my family for being where I am right now with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.

Q9: Who is the one person you would like to thank for getting you where you are today with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles? Why?

A9: I would like to thank my parents for getting me where I am today with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. They give me everything I need to improve and to play with the best teams. I can never thank them enough for what they have done for me during my hockey career.

Q10: What is one thing you like about Cape Breton? Why?

A10: The one thing I like about Cape Breton is the people. They remind me of my hometown. Everybody here is welcoming and also I love the view in Cape Breton.
