Moose edged in Victo 5-4

Moose edged 5-4 in Victoriaville

The Mooseheads threw everything they could at Brandon Whitney in the 3rd period, but it wasnt enough.

The Moose ran into a ramped up Victoriaville Tigres team that brought a solid work ethic on Saturday afternoon.  Marty Frk opened the scoring Saturday which gave the Moose the only lead they’d have all day.  The Herd had to play catch up after a first period filled with Victoriaville powerplays. The Tigres led 2-1 after 1 period of play.

Stefan Fournier tied the game early in the 2nd period with his 9th of the year. Victoriaville took a 3-2 lead just 17 seconds later when Dominik Rehak scored his 2nd of the season.  Jonathan Drouin, on his 3rd breakaway of the day, would score a beautiful goal to tie the game at 3 midway through the 2nd. Drouin would add 2 assists on the day as well.  The Tigres again responded and led 4-3 after 2 periods of play.

Dominik Rehak’s 3rd of the season gave the Tigres an insurance goal before the Moose went on attack to tie the game.  The Herd pulled to within 1 on Marty Frk’s second of the day, a blast from the point on the powerplay.  They threw 15 shots on goal controlling the play for the better part of the 3rd period but could not beat Valley native Brandon Whitney.  The Tigres would go on to win 5-4.  The Herd outshot the Tigres 36-22.

Next up for the Moose is the 9th Annual DND Appreciation Night, this friday night vs Rouyn-Noranda, the 8th ranked team in the country.  For tickets visit the Ticket Atlantic Box Office, select Superstore Outlets, or by phone 451-1221.
