Islanders give up three PP goals in second period, fall to Armada
The Blainville-Boisbriand Armada scored three times in the second period, all on the power play, to put themselves ahead 5-2 after 40 minutes of hockey on Tuesday.
The Charlottetown Islanders did score two in the third period, but that was all they could muster.
The Armada won 5-4 (the same as they did in game two) and take a 2-1 lead in the QMJHL third round series, brought to you by Roland Tours.
Filip Chlapik scored twice for the Islanders, while Nicolas Meloche and Adam Marsh added single goals in the loss.
Kameron Kielly had two assists.
The Armada went 3-for-5 on the power play, while the Islanders went 0-f0r-1.
Mark Grametbauer started the game in net for the Islanders and stopped 14 of 19 Armada shots. Matthew Welsh relieved him to start the third period and stopped all 7 shots in the final frame.
Samuel Montembeault was in net for the Armada once again and stopped 19 of 23 in the win.
The Islanders were missing Pascal Aquin due to a suspension but gained Marsh, who returned from serving a three game suspension.
This is the first time this playoffs the Islanders have trailed in a series.
Game four is Wednesday night at 8:30pm AST in Blainville-Boisbriand. Then, the series is back in Charlottetown for game five on Saturday afternoon at 4pm.
