Islanders finish off 2016 with road win against Wildcats
All 18 teams across the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League were in action on New Year’s Eve afternoon.
The Islanders travelled to Moncton to take on the Wildcats where they held onto another one goal lead to pick up their third win in a row to start the second half.
Mark Grametbauer made his Islanders debut in net for Charlottetown and stopped 15 of 16 shots in the win.
Tyler MacArthur picked up his first goal in the Q at 13:10 of the first period to open the scoring.
Jeremy McKenna tied the game for the Wildcats in the second period at 9:37.
Just over four minutes later, Pascal Aquin scored his 9th of the season to put the Islanders ahead for the final time.
Sam King continued his great play as of late with two assists and was named the game’s first star. Guillaume Brisebois and Will Bower also had assists.
The Islanders more than doubled the Wildcats in shots, firing 33 on the Moncton goaltender.
With the win, the Islanders improve to 23-12-1-0 and are now tied for the league lead in wins (along with Saint John and Shawinigan). Here is the current Maritime division standings:

The Islanders next action is on the road on Tuesday, Jan.3, 2017. They travel to take on the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at 7pm.
