Today, we highlight some of the athletes that have been performing best in the QMJHL over the past three weeks. From Klima to Barré-Boulet, Welsh and Rodrigue, here are the skaters and goaltenders who have shined the most.
OVER THE PAST THREE WEEKS IN THE QMJHL:
- Kevin Klima (Saguenéens | Chicoutimi) – The 20-year-old veteran has been showing his true colors since November 13. With 21 points and a +8 differential, he’s currently one of the hottest offensive weapons along with Alex Barré-Boulet (Armada | Blainville-Boisbriand). Up to this point, Klima has scored two game-winning goals in the three games he’s played in December.
- Alexis Lafrenière (Océanic | Rimouski) and Filip Zadina (Mooseheads | Halifax) – It is two rookie skaters who have cumulated the second most points in the QMJHL over the last three weeks. Lafrenière has impressed with his 14 points in 9 games, including a game in which he found the back of the net four times. As for Zadina, he continued his hot-streak and now sits in second place of the Q’S scoring race with 44 points in 30 games.
- Matthew Welsh (Islanders | Charlottetown) and Olivier Rodrigue (Voltigeurs | Drummondville) –Welsh has won 6 of his past 7 starts and has displayed a .946% save percentage over the same period, despite facing an average of 35 shots per game. On Rodrigue’s end, he’s won 7 of his past 8 starts with a goals-against average of 2.14. Both netminders could be facing off on this Thrusday night as the Islanders host the Voltigeurs.
