Visiting Cape Breton tonight, the PEI Rocket upset the Screaming Eagles with a 5-2 Score. The win sets the Rocket record at 18-13-2-0 for the season.
Justin Haché set the pace, opening the scoring for the Screaming Eagles at 14:55 into the first period, on a powerplay.
Alexis Pépin answered back with his ninth goal of the season at 5:42 of the second period on a Rocket Powerplay, with Jimmy Oligny and Ben Duffy picking up assists. At 10:08 Antoine Venne notched his first goal of the season aided by Josh Currie with an assist. Before the period ended, Victor Provencher added another Rocket goal, his fifteenth of the season, at 19:05 with Currie and Duffy picking up assists.
Into the third period, at 14:51, the Eagles' Michael Clarke slid a puck past the line to make it a one goal game. Less than a minute later, Provencher answered back with another goal assisted by Duffy. Then, with less than a minute left, Duffy posted one last goal, his twenty-first of the season, to end the game with a 5-2 score in favour of the Rocket.
Duffy's goal tonight puts him in a first place tie for the franchise record of most goals scored in a career with 121 goals as a Rocket.
Maxime Lagacé stopped 19 shots for the win.
David Honzik made 22 saves in the loss for the Eagles.
Provencher was named first star of the game and Duffy third star.
The Rocket return home to host the Saint John Sea Dogs on the 16th at 3p.m.
