Filip Chlapik, Vitalii Abramov and Frédéric Allard were named today the three stars of the week for the period from January 30 to February 5th, 2017
This week’s first star is Charlottetown Islanders forward Filip Chlapik. In four games, the 19-year-old Czech collected 12 points, including nine assists and finished the week with a +7 rating. Last Tuesday against the Foreurs, he secured four assists in a 7-1 victory in addition to finishing the game with a +4 rating. He was also awarded the second star of the game. No fewer than 48 hours later, he obtained three more assists in an 8-5 win over the Moncton Wildcats. Then on Friday he recorded his second hat-trick of the season in an 13-2 win at the hands of the Wildcats. The Ottawa Senators’ prospect concluded his week with two other helpers against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
Gatineau Olympiques forward Vitalii Abramov is the recipient of the second star of the week. In three games he amassed eight points, including three goals and concluded the week with a +3 rating. Last Tuesday against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, he tallied three points in a major victory, including an assist on the winning goal in overtime. On Friday, he completed the game with four points, a record of one goal and three assists. The Columbus Blue Jackets prospect finished the week with his 35th goal of the season in another overtime win, this time, against the Shawinigan Cataractes.
The third star of the week is awarded to Chicoutimi Saguenéens defenseman, Frédéric Allard. In three games, the Quebec native accumulated six assists and finished the week with a +6 rating. He was a key player during a convincing 6-2 win against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies grabbing five helpers, tying this year’s record for a defensemen in a game in the QMJHL set by Carl Neill earlier in October. He currently ranks fourth among QMJHL defensemen with 47 points in 46 games played.
